Sugavive MV2 is a combination, used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and dual therapy fail to provide adequate glycemic control. This formulation provides comprehensive control over both fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels by combining three distinct mechanisms of action: Glimepiride (2mg): A sulfonylurea. It acts as an insulin secretagogue, lowering blood glucose by directly stimulating the release of insulin from the beta cells of the pancreas. Metformin SR (500mg): A biguanide in a Sustained Release (SR) format. It primarily decreases hepatic (liver) glucose production and improves peripheral tissue sensitivity to insulin. The SR format ensures gradual absorption, which helps minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Voglibose (0.2mg): An alpha-glucosidase inhibitor. It works in the intestine to delay the digestion and absorption of complex carbohydrates, specifically blunting the sharp spikes in blood sugar that occur immediately after eating.
